Artist Statement
I have always been fascinated by the microcosmic view of nature. Through the process of magnification of flowers and water, the subjects are taken out of context, which therefore allows a detailed examination of vital design elements, such as line, shape, color, volume, and movement.
The resulting effect of painting nature from a close perspective and disintegration of its realistic form which virtually creates an almost abstract composition. Achieving this effect entails applying the oil paint in a very delicate and fine manner, while always avoiding spreading broad of thick brush strokes.
Through the process of painting flora and fauna while loving and respecting nature, I search for a form of expression whereby I reproduce my experience of the natural world. As I am fascinated by color, my art resonates with the expressive force and brilliant and vivid tones. The shapes and hues found in my work are not realistic appearance of nature, but an artist’s interpretation of personal feelings and inner world.
This interpretation or transference of personal experience onto a canvas is not only representational, but equally expresses abstract form with an affinity to convey a magical realism and ideal vision of the natura world. Communicating the spiritual language of material forms, imagination, and resourcefulness, is how I choose to create forms which have a simple composition but posses a complex and exceedingly detailed elegance.
Through my style of painting images which exist both in actuality as well as in the depths of my thoughts and creativity, is how I accomplish total experiential liberty with no limitation, thereby bringing forth unison and harmony between the realistic and the illusory nature of our environment.
